Willy Wiseman
WHITE CO.— In one of the more lengthy prison sentences out of White County in recent history, a Carmi drug dealer, who was involved in a standoff with police in July, will be spending several years living in a cage.
According to court documents, on Wednesday, October 31, Willie R. Wiseman, 34, of Carmi, was convicted of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, in one case, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm, in another case.
Charges of one count each of Aggravated Fleeing with Bodily Injury, Aggravated Fleeing Police 21 mph Over the Posted Speed Limit, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts each of Unlawful Use of a Vehicle to Structure a Methamphetamine Crime and Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine were dismissed.
Wiseman’s charges stemmed from an incident July 30 when police initiated a traffic stop of a 4-wheeler he was riding.
Wiseman refused to stop, fled from police and was taken into custody the next day after the Carmi Police Department, the White County Sheriff’s Department, Norris City Police Department, US Marshal Service, Illinois State Police ISP Tactical Response Team, Southern Illinois Drug Task Force, White County Ambulance Service, and Air Evac came together to bring about a peaceful end to a standoff on Olive Street in Carmi.
Wiseman was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with two years parole following his release.
In addition to his time in prison, Wiseman was ordered to pay $744 in fines and fees, of which he has paid nothing.
