WABASH CO.— Wabash County authorities have been busy over the past week or two, including having to chase after an elderly suspected doper.

On Wednesday, October 17, county authorities conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 1, at East 700 Road for Speeding.

The 39-year-old driver, AJ Stambaugh, of Stambaugh, Ky., was taken into custody on a charge of Driving on a Suspended License.

He was later released from police custody after posting a $150 cash bond.

Elderly druggie failure to launch?

Five days later, Oct. 22, the Wabash County Sheriff's Office conducted a vehicle stop for a traffic infraction at Copp Ave. and Elm St. in Mt. Carmel.

K-9 Roy conducted a free air narcotics sniff of the exterior of the vehicle driven by 60-year-old Richard C. Eblen of rural Wabash County.

Roy alerted to the odor of narcotics within the vehicle.

A subsequent search revealed a plastic baggie with a white crystalline substance.

During a pat-down of the driver, Eblen, a glass pipe was discovered in his sock.

And that’s about the time Eblen fled the scene and fought with the deputy and Mt. Carmel Police in an attempt to evade arrest.

Eblen was ultimately TASERed and taken into custody.

Eblen is lodged in the Wabash County Jail on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Resisting a Peace Officer.

During his initial court appearance, Eblen was also charged with Escape.

Bond has been set at $4000 cash.

Choking

And five days after the run for the alleged aged dope, Oct 27, Wabash County Sheriff's Office responded to 9583 Main St. in Keensburg reference a complaint of domestic battery.

During the course of field interviews, it was found that 28-year-old Jeffery L. Isham wrapped his hands around the victim's neck.

Isham was taken into custody on a felony charge of Domestic Battery.

The investigation continues and more charges are possible.

Isham's bond has been set at $4,000 cash.
