WHITE CO., Ill. - White County State's Attorney Denton Aud has released information on a couple of sentencings that occurred in his county yesterday, Monday, October 15.
Benjamin J. Smith, 35, of Carmi, was sentenced on his Class 2 felony Delivery of Meth case. Smith received a sentence of 42 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections, to be followed by two years of parole.
Smith's case, Aud wished to note, was investigated by the Southern Illinois Drug Task Force.
Jedediah D. Burnett was also sentenced Monday.
Burnett, 41, of Carmi, caught a four-year sentence on his two most recent cases: Aggravated Domestic Battery, a Class 2 felony; and Violation of an Order of Protection, a Class 4 felony.
Burnett will have four years of parole following his release from IDOC.
He was on probation for the Aggravated Dom Batt when he committed the offense of Violation of Order of Protection, Aud said about Burnett. His probation was revoked with the sentences listed above entered today. Burnett will have to serve a minimum of 85 percent of the Aggravated Domestic Battery sentence.
Aud noted that the Carmi Police Department was the investigating agency in both of these cases.
