MARION CO., Ill. - A speeding teen from Salem ended up in the hospital last night after her bad driving habits caused her car to fly off the road and overturn several times about four miles east of Central City.
Illinois State Police report that the single-vehicle incident occurred yesterday (Thursday, October 11) at 8:41 p.m.
A 16-year-old female juvenile (whose name ISP withholds, although it's available at the courthouse on her citations) from Salem was traveling westbound in a silver 2009 Pontiac G6 on Green Street Road just west of Odin Road at that time. ISP said she was traveling too fast and could not maintain control of the car as it began going around a curve.
The car left the roadway to the south, overturning several times before coming to rest in a field.
The juvenile was transported to St. Mary's Hospital by Lifestar Ambulance due to her injuries, which were unspecified.
She was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, as well No Insurance.
