It just is.
It's not that those of us who actually work for a living can't get things done today, like banking, post office stuff, courthouse stuff. No.
It's that it's just completely unnecessary as regards the narrative of how the "country" was "discovered" and how we glorify certain people over others in a misguided attempt to appease certain groups.
I say we get rid of ALL "days" that glorify people. It's unproductive, unnecessary....and the workforce (you know, the REAL workforce...those of us who work for ourselves...) would operate so much more smoothly if we didn't have to plan for and go through abruptions.
