CUMBERLAND CO., Ill. - A trucker from Ohio effectively sideswiped another motorist on Interstate 70 this morning, causing the smaller vehicle to lose control and crash.
Illinois State Police in District 12 report that the collision occurred earlier today (9;45 a.m.), Saturday, October 6.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a white 2018 International truck-tractor being driven by David Hambrick, 52, of Zanesville, Ohio, and a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer being driven by Joshua Gaudet, 29, of Dover, New Hampshire, were traveling westbound on I-70 at milepost 110
The Mitsubishi was passing the truck in the left lane when the truck crossed over the center line and struck the car on the passenger side.
The Mitsubishi lost control and veered into the tree line on the north side of the interstate.
Gaudet was transported to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham with unspecified injuries; Hambrick was cited for Improper Lane Usage.
