June escapee enters plea in White County; sentencing coming in November

WHITE CO., Ill. - The third of three escapees from the June incident at the White County Jail has been sentenced as of today.

White County State's Attorney Denton Aud said that Johnny E. Tipton, 61, one of the individuals who escaped from the jail in June along with Zac Shock and Justin Bray, entered a plea of guilty today (Wednesday, October 3) for his part in the ordeal.

Aud said Tipton had entered an open plea of guilty to a count of Escape, a Class 2 felony and will be sentenced on December 3, 2018 by Judge T. Scott Webb.

Tipton is eligible for between 3-7 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. White County Sheriff’s Department was the lead agency in the matter with several other agencies being involved as well.
