ALTERATION: The date has been changed from September 20 to October 3.

Below is the original post, which remains unaltered except for the date.

SALINE CO., Ill. - On Thursday September 20, a Nationwide Wireless Emergency Alert Test will be performed. The test will be sent out by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The test will begin at 1:18 PM CDT.

There will actually be two tests, one that is the Wireless Emergency Alert system and the other with the Emergency Alert System. The first test will come over wireless devices, such as cell phones and should be accompanied with the message of “THIS IS A TEST.”

If you were turn on your television or radio you would receive the same message over those devices as well.

This is to test the Nationwide system to make sure the alert system is functional. Note: Some older cell phones may not receive the alerts.
