CARMI, Ill. - Two Carmi residents were taken into custody early this morning after Carmi police, effecting a traffic stop, made a discovery of plenty of meth in the vehicle.
Carmi Police Chief Jason Carter reports that the traffic stop happened this morning (Wednesday, August 29) at 12:36 a.m. on Main Street at Main Cross in Carmi, right in the vicinity of the cop shop, jail and courthouse.
The two are Courtney L. Childers, 34, of the 400 block of North Seventh Street, and the hapless Billy W. Horn, 35, of a Highway 45 North, Carmi, address. Both were charged with felony Possession of Meth and Possession of a Controlled Substance; misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and two civil citations for Possession of Cannabis less than 10 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
In an unrelated incident, a Carmi woman still sporting an Evansville address on her ID was picked up on a warrant yesterday (Tuesday, August 28) afternoon.
Angela N. Bartley, 38, of either Evansville or Carmi depending on which document is being referenced, was arrested at 11:11 a.m. on a White County warrant at a location on the 400 block of Fifth Street (technically, at Pundrake's.)
