MARION—Illinois Governor Pat Quinn will be putting in an appearance in Marion, Illinois, tomorrow, July 15, 2013.
The purpose of the visit is for the governor to be present for a groundbreaking project to “relieve congestion on Interstate 57 between Marion and Johnston City.” This will go down at 3 p.m. near Rent One Park at 2500 Blue Heron Drive. The project involves expanding the interstate at that key location.
We have it on good authority that the whole thing is part of a Marion boondoggle that is doomed to be VERY expensive for the city and involves a man who doesn’t understand that he’s managed to make himself a public person, Doug Bradley at The Hill, whom our staff spoke with Friday…and about whom we’ve got a series of articles pending over the next couple of months. The boondoggle involves that godawful mess of construction and confusing street work going on in Marion right now…and which looks to be ongoing for quite some time, as Bradley and his crew can’t seem to come to terms with some of the land owners in the area.
We’ll see if we can’t get some pics of the gov…and who’s around him for this little escapade. Too bad he can’t come to Harrisburg and personally address the situation with his latest employee, Eric Gregg…but that’d be just too much to ask.
