FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A guy from St. Louis with an unpronounceable name and apparently really poor driving skills caused a wreck earlier today in Fayette County, but fortunately he was the only one injured in the ensuing crash.
Illinois State Police in District 12 worked the accident, which occurred early this morning (4:59 a.m.), Thursday, August 23.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a gray 2007 Toyota being driven by Abena Konaju Osei, 28 of St. Louis, and a green 2019 Freightliner Blue semi being driven by William C. McFarland, 59, of Indianapolis, were traveling westbound on I-70 at milepost 83. Osei's vehicle struck the rear of the Freightliner with the Toyota's front, then lost control and crossed the median, continuing into the eastbound lanes.
Osei's Toyota, skidding backwards in the eastbound lanes, then struck the front of a white 2018 International semi being driven by Stephen Joseph Miller, 48, of Greenwood, Ind.
Osei survived the impact and was sent to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham with unspecified injuries.
He was later cited for Failure to Reduce Speed and Driving While License Suspended.
