WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. - Williamson County State's Attorney Brandon Zanotti has announced a sentencing that occurred (Monday) in his courtroom.
Zanotti said that James R. Burnett, 28, of Royalton pled guilty to one count of Theft, a class 3 felony, in August 2015, stemming from an April 2015 arrest in Cambria. On July 30, 2018 a Williamson County judge revoked Burnett’s probation and sentenced him to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
On April 10, 2015, Burnett stole approximately $3,000 of cash from a Cambria residence. Burnett subsequently violated his probation by failing to appear and pay fines. A warrant was then issued for his arrest.
In addition to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, Burnett will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following his release.
The investigation was handled by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State’s Attorney Sean DeMello led the prosecution of this case.
