OLNEY, Ill. - An elderly Olney man has been taken to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville after a traffic accident this afternoon ejected him from the golf cart he was tooling around in.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred on Illinois 130 on the north edge of Olney at 2:09 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 24.
A white golf cart being operated by William D. Spitz, 81, of Olney, attempted to cross 130 directly in the path of the Silverado, which swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the golf cart. However, the Silverado struck the golf cart with its front end, then swung around and struck the cart again with its rear passenger side.
Spitz was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported by helicopter to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville with unspecified injuries.
No citations have been issued pending investigation by ISP.
