PALESTINE, Ill. - Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing has released information on an incident that occurred this morning in the village.
Besing said that at approximately 10:35 a.m. this morning (Tuesday, July 24), Crawford County Central Dispatch advised of an intoxicated male subject at a residence in the 300 block of West Grand Prairie making verbal threats towards health care providers at this residence.
Upon the arrival of Besing, as well as Crawford County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Doug Slater and Deputy Todd Fear, the male subject, identified as John A. Hunter, 56 of Palestine, was placed under arrest by Chief Besing for Assault, a Class C misdemeanor, after a complaint was signed by the care-giver; and Resisting Arrest, Class A misdemeanor. Hunter was found to be 3 times over the legal limit of intoxication.
Hunter was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he was charged, processed and is being held in lieu of bond.
