WHITE CO., Ill. - A local man was locked up following an alleged DUI crash, and two women were booked into the county jail on separate cases, all this in the Carmi/White County weekend report.

Emilee Duckworth

On Friday, July 20, one of the area's more attractive crims, Emilee Duckworth, turned herself in on a warrant for failure to appear on a Hamilton County DUI case dating back to 2013. Duckworth, who is all of 26, turned herself in at 6:20 p.m., was escorted to the White County Jail, and was advised that her bail would be $3,000 (which she would have to post $300). Apparently she did, as she's not being held there right now.

A couple of hours later, at 8:22, Carmi police stopped Kelly R. Stucky Jones, 37, of Carmi, who was traveling eastbound on Main Street at the Fairground in town.

The city officer knew her to be wanted on a White County warrant for Burglary and Theft, and so she was arrested without incident on those. However, a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a bonus for law enforcement and the courts: alleged drug items. So Jones was additionally charged with Possession of Meth, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Paraphernalia. Jones was transported to the jail and held pending a $7,000 bond on the warrant and the setting of a new bond for the drug-related charges.

And lastly, White County sheriff's deputies dealt with the aftermath of what authorities are calling a DUI crash.

This occurred Saturday, July 21 at right before 9 p.m., when Sid Liles called 911 to report a single-vehicle accident in front of his residence on County Road 900E, Carmi. The pickup truck had hit a utility pole and Verizon box, and that a man was injured.

Deputy Scott Cantrell responded, along with White County EMS, where they found a black Ford pickup stopped at an angle on the west side of the roadway about 100 feet north of Highway 14. Liles was there, as well as James Omans, 37, of Carmi, whose face was covered with blood and who had been behind the wheel when the accident occurred. Omans stated that he'd crossed the highway and his "accelerator stuck wide open," causing him to lose control and strike the utility pole...but Cantrell could detect an odor of alcohol emitting from Omans.

When Omans left the convo to look at his truck, he almost fell over down the embankment. So Deputies had the ambulance crew assess and treat his injuries, then then they found out that the wounds were superficial...and that Omans was driving on a revoked license.

Long story short: Omans was jailed with a BAC of .206, almost three times the legal limit, and apparently was able to bond himself out. He's charged with two counts of DUI and a Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.
