WILLIAMSON CO., Ill. – This week’s installment of Felony Friday kicks off with one of those incidents in which we like to drop “helpful hints.” Such as…if you lend your car to someone in exchange for something that can get you in deep doodoo, be sure you don’t later make a false report about it.
That’d be the case regarding Peggy J. Husband, 59 of Johnston City, who is charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct (False Police Report) and Obstructing Justice.
Husband told a Johnston City police officer her car had been stolen when in fact she knew there were no reasonable grounds for believing her car was stolen. Husband filed the report, then later ask for it to be placed in the system to be located. A few days later she called and had asked to speak with an officer about the vehicle. She hadn’t officially filed charges against the suspect… knowing all along she had loaned it to someone. The officer informed her that if in fact the vehicle was loaned and not stolen as she had previously stated, she would be arrested for filing a false report. Husband told him she understood.
The person was located and brought in for questioning and she showed the officer Facebook messages regarding the agreement between the two for the loaning of the vehicle. The agreement was for a tank of gas and a gram of methamphetamine.
Husband was arrested and taken to Williamson County Jail on the above charges. She is free on a $3,000 recog bond. Statements from Husband to the officer we’ve chosen to withhold.
