HAMILTON CO., Ill. - Hamilton County State's Attorney Justin Hood has announced the sentencing of two individuals in his county, one of them from neighboring Franklin County.
That'd be Joseph Mitchell, 38 of West Frankfort, who plead guilty to Criminal Damage over $10,000 but less than $100,000 on July 19, 2018 in Hamilton County.
Mitchell will serve a 6-year sentence on the Class 3 felony and once he is released, will serve a year on M.S.R. (parole). He was charged after he and a juvenile had gone on to the Hamilton County Coal mine property and damaged three large spools of cable. He fled the scene after employees tried to stop him. He later crashed his truck and had to be taken to the hospital. A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was served with the warrant on July 17, 2018.
Then there was Brandon Keown, 29, of McLeansboro, who plead guilty to a probation violation on Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine on July 19, in Hamilton County.
He will serve 4 years on the Class 3 felony and once he is released serve 1 year on MSR (parole). He was originally placed on probation on April 16, 2018. He violated his probation by committing new charges in White County and later plead guilty on July 11, 2018.
He will serve his 4 years D.O.C. sentence concurrent with White County.
