FRANKLIN/JEFFERSON COs., Ill. - One of the three kids who escaped from the Juvenile Detention Center in Benton last week was located in Mt. Vernon to the north...and when he was taken in, three others were also arrested on various, separate charges.

The unnamed juvenile (who is 17 and, according to Illinois' Juvenile Justice Act, cannot be named nor photo shown, which made it really difficult for people to get concerned about his runaway/be-on-the-lookout-for status, as no one knew what they were "looking for" by way of description) was designated as "Juvenile No. 1" in formal releases about the escape, which occurred Wednesday afternoon, July 11.

Reports out of Jefferson County to the north of Franklin indicate that a residence on the 2400 block of Wescott in Mt. Vernon was the subject of warrants to locate individuals wanted for various crimes in Jefferson.

Deputies as well as Mt. V police officers converged on the house at about 5 a.m. Friday, July 13, to locate the subjects and, during the search, Juvenile No. 1 was located hiding in the residence.

It's reported that he allegedly resisted arrest, but was taken into custody.

Juvenile No. 1 was just a bonus for the locals, who took into custody two teens, James Miller and Erica Brown, both 18, on charges of Obstruction of Justice/Providing False Information. Whether that was in conjunction with the juvenile's presence in the home is unknown.

Carolyn Duncan

However, another adult in the home, Carolyn Duncan, 44, was taken into custody on a Possession of Meth count, which is what one of the warrants being served was for.

Meanwhile, Juvie No. 1 got belligerent with booking at the Mt. Vernon PD where he'd been taken following apprehension. A refusal to cooperate got him charged with a count of Resisting...although whether that's an adult charge or a juvenile charge (at 17, it could go either way) is unknown.

There's been no word on the other two juvenile escapees.
