EDWARDS CO., Ill. - A Grayville man has been sentenced in Edwards County Circuit Court on his DUI case following conviction by a jury in late April of this year.
Edwards County State's Attorney Eric St. Ledger announced this afternoon that Benny Brand, 55, was sentenced earlier today (Tuesday, July 10) to a total of four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections, a sentence that's to be followed by a term of two years of parole.
Brand was previously found guilty on April 30, 2018, by an Edwards County jury of committing Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a Class 2 felony, and Driving While License Revoked, a Class A misdemeanor.
Judge William Hudson was the sentencing judge and also the judge who presided over the jury trial. St. Ledger prosecuted the case; former SA Brian Shinkle, now acting as public defender, represented Brand.
