FAYETTE CO., Ill. - A Brownstown man was flown to a Springfield hospital after a rollover wreck that ejected him from his Camaro yesterday afternoon.
Illinois State Police said the single-vehicle crash occurred at 3:56 p.m. Sunday, July 8, on Fayette County Road 1200E just south of County Road 1900N, north of Bluff City.
Preliminary investigation shows that Eric C. Gurtner, 22, of Brownstown, driving a dark blue 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, was traveling south on Fayette County Road 1200E at that location when he lost control of his vehicle south of the intersection.
The Camaro then left the roadway to the right, crossed the ditch and then struck an embankment which caused the vehicle to go airborne and the driver was ejected. The Camaro then overturned and came to rest on a pasture fence.
Gurtner was transported via Air Evac to St. John's Hospital in Springfield. No citations have been issued, but the crash is still under investigation. There's been no word on Gurtner's condition.
