CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. - Located in a residential neighborhood near Creal Springs Park in Williamson County is a tiny restaurant with a big taste.
People come from all over to enjoy true southern barbecue at at Big Blues Que. It's a walk-up-and-order-at-the-window type of establishment where you can enjoy eating at one of their many outside tables or take your order for carry out.
You can also phone in your orders in advance to have them hold it back for you because once they are out of food, you are out of luck.
I experienced this when I went to get some barbecue and their delicious Thunder-and-Lightning (a vegetable concoction consisting of onions, tomatoes and I believe zucchini in a vinegar-sugar-and-water mix, shown above. Not sure if there are cucumbers because I didn’t belch them) and the guy in front of me bought the last of it.
The owners were super nice and even gave me a sample of barbecue, ribs, smoked meatloaf and sides.
They are only open on Friday evening from 4 to 8 and Saturday from 11 to 8...so make plans to tool on down to Creal next time you get a hankering for BBQ!
