PALESTINE, Ill. - An incident with a belligerent driver this morning in Palestine has prompted a search for the guy who got away from a traffic stop after being hit with a TASER.

Police Chief Jeff Besing said that at approximately 9:45 a.m. this morning (Friday, July 6), he initiated a vehicle stop on a white 1997 Dodge truck near the Palestine High School at Main and Franklin streets in reference to a wanted subject on felony warrants out of Knox County, Indiana.

As Chief Besing approached and confirmed the subject identity as Ronald E. Seals, 62, Besing attempted to take Seals into custody but he refused to exit the truck.

Chief Besing then ordered Seals to exit the truck, at which time Seals refused and was beginning to drive away. Besing was able to TASER Seals as he drove off... and a vehicle pursuit ensued. Seals drove at high speeds through Palestine and ditched his truck behind his house at 519 E. Market Street, Palestine. Seals then fled on foot westbound from his residence.

Seals was last seen wearing a pink or orange tank top shirt with blue jeans and is described as being 5'10, 220 lbs, with gray shoulder length hair and glasses.

It's noted that no gunshots were fired during this incident, nor were any weapons displayed or involved.

Law Enforcement Units from Robinson Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff's Office responded to assist.

If anyone sees this subject, do not approach him; instead, call 911 to report his location.
