CARMI, Ill. - A couple of repeat names as well as a couple of thefts are all in this report of Carmi city police activities over the past couple of days.
The action started Tuesday evening (July 3) when, at just before 9 p.m., a traffic stop on Cherry at Jessup in Carmi lead to arrests and multiple citations.
A Carmi officer observed one Jeffrey Parkhurst, 30, of Oak Street in Carmi, driving a tan Dodge van pulling a trailer and driving past the sallyport entrance to the city/county jail….which of course was not a smart thing to do, since cops saw him and knew him to be in possession of a suspended driver’s license.
The officer whose attention was caught by Parkhurst had dispatch run Parkhurst’s license, and sure enough, it was suspended.
So a traffic stop was conducted, Parkhurst was arrested, and was taken in on the charge.
But…that wasn’t the end of it.
In the vehicle along with Parkhurst was another Parkhurst, Jennifer, 31, also of Oak Street in Carmi.
And as it turned out, Ms. P was cited for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol by a Passenger and Possession of Cannabis under 10 grams…and the vehicle that was towing a trailer was towed over to Don’s Towing.
Ms. P was apparently able to post bond; Mr. P was not, and remained in the White County Jail as of this afternoon.
A familiar name, Elijah James, emerged as an arrestee last night on the police reports.
At 8:06 p.m. last night (Wednesday, July 4), James, 28, of Maunie, was picked up on a White County warrant for Retail Theft, this happening on Fackney Street in Carmi.
James, for all his legal issues, was able to either post bond or was let out on some ridiculous Bond Reform codicil, waiting to offend again as most Bond Reford releases do.
Then early this morning, a repeat name popped back up on the blotter, with a repeat problem: Neola D. Wilson, 20, of North Fourth Street, was once again busted for Illegal Possession/Consumption of Alcohol by a minor at 12:47 a.m. Thursday, July 5.
Ms. Wilson was booked at the county jail and held until she was able to post the requisite $150 cash bond to secure her release.
In the theft report files, Shaun A. Mecum, 49, of Paint Creek Ln, Carmi, reports a license plate missing from his vehicle. That was entered into LEADS, setting up a situation wherein not just White County authorities will be on the lookout for said plate.
Udean Paul, 82, of East Street in Carmi, advised authorities early Tuesday morning, July 3, that some time Monday night or early Tuesday morning, someone pried open the front door to a trailer at 624 Stewart Street that Paul owns and that a dresser belonging to her granddaughter had been ransacked. It wasn’t immediately clear whether anything had been taken. A report was made.
