CRAWFORD CO., Ill. - Two guys from Evansville who apparently thought they had themselves a great moneymaking scheme found out different when the law caught up with them in Robinson.
Authorities in Crawford County were the ones who made the arrest, which occurred Friday, June 29.
Two men were caught on surveillance at a location on Illinois Route 1 where there's a vending machine (not identifi`ed by authorities, but really, there are very few such locales along 1 in Crawford, so why it wasn't identified remains a mystery). It was alleged that the two broke into a vending machine at that location, making off with an undisclosed amount of money. The vid cap was done Wednesday, June 27.
Then on Friday, June 29, the two individuals were taken into custody, although Crawford County officials didn't say where or how. However, they were identified as the two caught on surveillance at the mysterious Highway 1 location, and have been named as James Barth, 45, and Jeffery Beckman, 43, both of Evansville.
They were each charged with Theft and lodged in the Crawford County Jail on that count.
Whether these two had anything to do with the two guys who were busted in Olney's Walmart after an alleged Coinstar theft last week (wherein Olney authorities advised local Walmart employees that the two had also been viewed in Robinson's store) is unknown. However, we're looking into that situation, and will likely have any info we obtain placed in the upcoming print version, on stands July 18. Be sure your subs, both print and online, are up to date.
