RICHLAND CO., Ill. - A death in the city of Olney last night has resulted in the arrest of a local man, but only for meth possession at this time, as the death prompted a search warrant of his residence.
Richland County Sheriff Andy Hires said that last night (Wednesday, June 20) at approximately 9:13 p.m., members of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office and Olney Police Department responded to the area of East Ilinois 250, just west of the Olney city limits, for a report of a subject attempting to run in front of vehicles.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers on scene made contact with Joshua O. Spivey, 31, of Olney. Spivey was reported to be sweating profusely, had difficulty breathing, and was acting in an erratic manner. Spivey was transported to the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney to be evaluated by medical staff.
Spivey later died while at the Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.
Investigation into the incident led to a search warrant being obtained to search a residence in Olney. Travis Stucker, 36, of Olney, was taken into custody and currently being held at the Richland County Detention Center for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine.
The investigation is ongoing.
