JASPER CO., Ill. - The weekend DUI (a regular occurrence for the summer months) in Jasper County was charged against a driver from Robinson this particular weekend, according to information from the Illinois State Police.
ISP said that a single-vehicle crash occurred at 12:20 a.m. today, Sunday, June 10, north of Newton.
Preliminary investigation shows that a black 1992 Dodge Dakota truck being driven by Daniel W. York, 29, of Robinson, was westbound on Jasper County 1400 Avenue just west of County Road 1125 Street. With York was passenger Austin W. York, 24, also of Robinson.
ISP said the truck left the roadway to the right, crossed the ditch, and struck a tree on the edge of the woods.
Both Yorks were transported from the scene to St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham by Jasper County EMS for what ISP is calling non-life-threatening injuries.
The elder York was cited for DUI Alcohol, Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Wear Seatbelt and Expired Registration.
The younger York was cited for Failure to Wear Seatbelt.
