FLORA, Ill. - Illinois State Police worked an accident that occurred early this morning on Old U.S. 50 outside Flora, one in which they believe is attributed to DUI.
The wreck happened at 1:30 a.m. this morning (Wednesday, May 30), two miles west of Flora on Old 50.
Preliminary investigative details indicate that a silver 2008 Dodge Durango was traveling westbound at that location when it left the north side of the roadway, striking a culvert and coming to rest in a residential yard.
ISP said the driver, Nadia M. Young, 23, of Flora as it was later discovered, left the scene of the accident.
Later, due to injuries, an ambulance and law enforcement were contacted by a third party, and Young, who had a male juvenile with her in the car at the time, was cited for Improper Lane Usage, DUI, Failure to Report an Accident and Child Endangerment.
Both occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Clay County Hospital in Flora.
