Xzavier Gibbs

GALLATIN CO., Ill. - Gallatin County State's Attorney Doug Dyhrkopp has announced an important sentencing in his county that hopefully will have a bearing on upcoming Saline County cases a Harrisburg thug is facing.

Dyhrkopp announced this afternoon that this past Monday, March 5, Xzavier B. Gibbs, 20, was sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections, in Gallatin County Circuit Court.

Gibbs was sentenced on one Class Four Felony count of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Gibbs pleaded guilty under a negotiated plea agreement to a sentence of eighteen months in the Illinois Department of Corrections and was also ordered to serve one year of mandatory supervised release (parole.)

Regular readers will recall that Gibbs was arrested in Equality, Illinois in July of 2017 on failure to appear warrants issued by the Saline County, Illinois Circuit Court. Gibbs was carrying a loaded 9mm pistol on his person when State Police made contact with him in Equality while executing the arrest warrants.

Gibbs still has cases pending in Saline County, and they seem to be going nowhere quickly; we'll give upcoming coverage as they develop.
