MARION, Ill. - The community forum held at Mackie's Pizza in Marion last night is being called a success by organizers and attendees alike.
Our Marion correspondent advised that there were interesting comments from participants at Mackie's last night (Wednesday, March 7, 2018). Everyone was civil to the diverse opinions each one had, she said.
"We want to make sure it’s right," Fowler told the small crowd in attendance. "We're working on some ideas as to the faculty."
Fowler said that as regards public safety tax, there could be possibilities for counties that passed the referendum to include safety security personnel.
"It’s a hot topic in legislature," Fowler, who is up for re-election this year to the seat he attained in 2016, running against long-time incumbent Gary Forby in the 59th Senate District of Illinois.
The forum was organized by Marion city councilman Angelo Hightower, who has conducted a number of such forums over the past couple of years.
