CARMI, Ill. - Two individuals, one the subject of a traffic stop and one the subject of a warrant, ended up being taken into custody yesterday in Carmi over various infractions Monday, February 26.
The first occurred at 5:13 p.m. when a traffic stop on Rice at Webb Street took place.
The subject of the stop was one Charles A. Sage, 31, of McLeansboro. Turned out he was cited for Driving While License Suspended, but upon further investigation, civil citations for Possession of Cannabis less than 10 grams, as well as Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, were also issued. Sage was able to post bond to secure his release on the DWLS charge.
A second arrest was effected as the result of a warrant service, this one on the 600 block of Ninth Street in Carmi, at 8 p.m.
Police went to the residence of Brenda E. Fond, 36, of aforementioned Ninth Street location, on a Failure to Appear warrant for a Theft over $500 case, as well as charges of Unlawful Possession of Meth and Aggravated Battery/Strongarm of non-Family Member.
There was also a Wayne County warrant issued on a DUI, with the amount of bond on the warrants totaling $500 each. which is probably why Fond remained jailed as of this afternoon, Tuesday, February 27.
