PEORIA— It’s something that sounds like it could happen in Saline County, but instead it’s a little further north: A 35-year-old Peoria man has been charged with murder after police say he executed his drug partner.
According to published reports, David Jordan shot 48-year-old Larry VanDyke once in the back of the head “execution style.”
Police officials say VanDyke was killed the morning of Wednesday, May 29, on the couch in his Pekin apartment.
Authorities say it was not difficult to track, locate and arrest Jordan because they had already had a GPS device attached to the car he was driving as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
When Jordan was taken into custody police also seized a loaded .45 caliber handgun they found in the vehicle with him.
Jordan was formally charged Friday with one count of First Degree Murder.
Bond in the case has been set at $3 million cash.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been set for June 20.
