CRAWFORD CO.—Sources have reported to us this morning that long-time Robinson police officer Dan Strauch is showing improvement after an “unknown medical issue” late last night prompted a call for “officer down.”

Published reports are typically vague about what caused the “medical issue” that occurred last night (Friday, May 24, 2013) when Strauch responded to a call on East Miami, reportedly the residence of Danny Stifle, as regards text messages the resident’s granddaughter was receiving.

We have NO input on what the nature of those text messages were.

Strauch was reported to have either fallen or passed out; initial reports had it that there was bleeding from a head wound at one point, which prompted all sorts of speculation that he’d been shot or injured, but which was likely from impact when he went to the ground. The initial report, upon transfer to Crawford Memorial Hospital, was that he’d had some kind of seizure. In typical mainstream fashion, however, there is NO report of Strauch suffering a seizure; just that he had a “medical scare on the job” and a “minor medical issue” and that he’s been “treated and released and is expected to be back on the job soon.”

Mainstream media as well as Robinson Police Department would do well to remember that the public is going to speculate, and talk is going to be reported, so to get the accurate info out there as soon as possible would quell that kind of thing…but it’s been this way for years, and doesn’t appear to be changing any time soon.
