FRANKLIN CO., Ill. - A search to recover the body of a man who went missing in the water yesterday continues at Rend Lake in Franklin County today (Saturday, July 29).
Authorities have confirmed that a 37-year-old man, reportedly from Wayne County, jumped in the lake yesterday at some point in order to save a young female swimmer.
It's unclear at this point how the girl fared, but the man went underwater and wasn't seen again.
Authorities are searching for only the man, so apparently someone else was able to save the little girl.
The search crews worked the North Marcum inlet/ramp area of the lake last night; today, the South Sandusky Beach part of the lake is being dragged.
