FLAT ROCK—Residents in the Flat Rock area were without power overnight (Sunday, May 5, 2013) after a sparking power line was observed on Illinois Route 1.
A Disclosure reader was in the southbound lane at about 12:10 a.m. passing not far past the turn south of Flat Rock when he reported seeing sparks coming from a wire, still attached to a transmission line but, as he reported, “looking like it was about to come down.”
Whether it did or not remains unknown (as we’re waiting on Ameren CIPS to call us back, but we’re not even sure they are the power providers for that area), but shortly thereafter, Flat Rock residents lost power.
When the Ameren media center calls us back, we’ll know more, including the length of the outage and how many people it affected. In the meantime, thanks to the observant motorist who called in the incident. More as we get it; keep checking back.
