WHITE CO.―A woman from Evansville, Ind., Latanya Broomfield, 42, has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC) today (Monday, April 29, 2013) and is indicted by the grand jury of White County citizens on January 18, 2013 for two counts of Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, said substance being crack cocaine, which are both Class X felonies.
A plea agreement was reached today and for the first count Broomfield was sentenced to 80 months in DOC, three years mandatory supervised release and the second count being 10 years in DOC, two years mandatory supervised released and amended to a Class 1.
Her sentences will run concurrently and she is ordered to pay a total of $8,542 in fines and fees, which consist of a $3,000 drug assessement, a street value fine of $3,950, a lab fee of $100 and other court costs.
State’s Attorney Denton Aud stated, “Pursuant to the laws and policy enacted by the representatives of the People of Illinois, I have prosecuted Ms. Broomfield for actions within White County against said declared public policy. Using the discretion conferred upon the office that I occupy, a negotiated plea agreement was reached within the limits dictated by our elected lawmakers for these offenses related to unlawful dealing of narcotics. The Southern Illinois Drug Task Force was responsible for the successful investigation in this matter.”
