CRAWFORD CO.—Information is still coming in, but here’s what we know about a motorcycle-van collision that occurred last night (Friday, April 26, 2013).
As we understand it, a collision occurred between a cycle and van on Route 1 not far from the turn to Robinson Correctional Center (prison) when the van turned in front of the motorcycle. Calls were made for an ambulance, these calls stating that there were two injuries, and that the cyclists’s head was embedded in the side of the van.
A call was made for a lifeflight, but that was subsequently cancelled and a call for coroner Earl Deckard was made.
Our understanding is that the cycle rider, Walter Scriff, 49, of Indianapolis, was declared deceased; the passenger in the van who was injured, Josh Tracy, age unavailable, was airlifted to Carle Clinic in Champaign; his condition was unavailable as of this morning. The driver of the van, Joyce Holdiman, age unavailable, was reported to have been arrested on a preliminary charge of DUI and she has been bonded out.
Both Route 1 and Route 1-A were shut down for about an hour while the crash scene was worked. Illinois State Police District 12 reportedly worked the scene, but they have NO information on their media line as of this morning. Traffic was reopened at about 10:15 p.m.
