CRAWFORD CO.—The village of Hutsonville, on the Wabash River in northeast Crawford County, is experiencing flooding this evening; here’s video shot at about 3:10 this afternoon. I stood at the bank for about 15 minutes and it appeared the water got closer in just that short amount of time:

There are pumping efforts up in town in an attempt to keep encroaching water from inundating houses, but when I spoke with Pam at the Wabash Coffee House, she said it didn’t appear to be working. There was talk of blowing a dam, and it was said that the decision was going to be made at 4 p.m.; however, we haven’t heard anything about it.

All this water is moving downstream, and quickly. Palestine is next on the river, and they have been telling us all day about problems with flooding. Further downstream, Highway 33 has been closed between Heathsville and Russellville in Lawrence County as it runs alongside the river and is underwater at different locations. We’ve been receiving regular updates from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department and will bring them to you as we get them.

Here are some shots from the residential areas of Hutsonville I got when I went to film the river:
