WHITE CO.—A young man who was caught up in an altercation at a popular Grayville watering hole in early January is headed back to DOC.
Adam Brown,24, of Grayville, was sentenced to seven years DOC for an attack and subsequent stabbing, at Chappy’s in Grayville, of Justin Catlin, of Crossville, who wound up in an Evansville hospital with grievous wounds from the attack. The sentencing took place yesterday (04.11.13) in White County Circuit Court during a previously-scheduled pretrial conference; Brown, who had been held since his arrest the night of January 5, agreed to the sentence in exchange for a plea of guilty to the Aggravated Battery Using a Deadly Weapon charge. His fines and fees amount to $371, but that doesn’t include restitution to Catlin, which he’s also been ordered to pay.
Brown was on parole out of Taylorville on a 2006 Edwards County burglary and damage to property sentence when the stabbing occurred, thus leading to the extended sentence and speedy way in which this White County case, prosecuted effectively by new White County State’s Attorney Denton Aud, was executed.
