FAYETTE CO., Ill. - An accident late Friday night sent a truck driver from Ohio to the hospital in Salem.
Illinois State Police said preliminary investigative details indicate Stephen James, 50, of Dayton, Ohio, was southbound on Interstate 57 at about 10:49 p.m. last night in a white 2003 two-axle Freightliner straight truck.
At about a half-mile north of milepost 134, he lost control and skidded off the roadway into the median.
The truck struck the median, overturned and came to final rest in the median facing northbound.
The road conditions at the time of the crash were icy.
