CLAY CO., Ill. - A man from Xenia was hospitalized in Evansville after a single-vehicle accident very early this morning (Thursday, December 1).
According to Illinois State Police who worked the crash, Shad L. Weller, 45, of Xenia, was driving a black 2010 Dodge westbound on old Highway 50 at County Road 900 East when, at 2:59 a.m. this morning, he ran off the north side of the roadway and struck a utility pole.
The Dodge continued to travel westbound through the ditch and then struck a tree before coming to rest in the ditch.
Weller had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown to Deaconess Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Weller has been charged with DUI, Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Improper Lane Usage and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.
