UPDATE

Our original source on the story has called to clarify: While STD MIGHT be abusing Workmen’s Comp, the issue here is that he’s using his city INSURANCE to pay for the wreck…claiming he was “on duty”—in a personal vehicle—thus running up taxpayers’ expenses ANYWAY. So the headline was misleading. We’re leaving it just so you can see it, but never let it be said that we don’t CORRECT something when it’s inaccurate.

ELDORADO—We’ve learned of an incident that occurred some time over the weekend last week, March 16-17, 2013.

According to our sources in Williamson County, Eldorado police chief Freeman Shannon Todd Deuel (STD) had a collision in his big-boobied-badge bunny (wife Blair Baker’s) car in Marion over that weekend, resulting in a totaling of that vehicle. No tickets were issued, that we can ascertain.

However, now Freeman STD is charging the city of Eldorado on an injury on his shoulder that he said “happened in the wreck.” Our sources are telling us that this injury DIDN’T happen in the wreck…that it occurred previously, but he’s getting the city of Eldorado to pay for it, conveniently after the car crash. As it turns out, he was involved in a wreck that occurred A YEAR AGO and that injury happened THEN. But far be it for him to be open and honest about it…instead, he’s out of commission from duties to the city of Eldorado, and the taxpayers of ‘rado are now paying for the most CURRENT injury.

This is the kind of subterfuge that goes on throughout Illinois…and is what is causing small communities to go bankrupt in the process of trying to run their cities. Shannon Deuel is one of the worst offenders: our sources tell us that he’s hardly ever on duty, yet continues to get paid his salary, plus a salary with the federal U.S. Marshal’s service, which the city puts up with him running to Benton for, whenever the feds declare they need him.

If you wonder what your taxes are ridiculously high over, ‘rado, this is it. It’s up to you to do something about it, and ask the tough questions about what your police chief is doing, and why.

More as we get it; keep checking back.
