WABASH CO., Ill. - A head-on collision yesterday afternoon in Wabash County sent a Patoka, Ind., man out by helicopter and resulted in a citation for a Grayville woman.
Illinois State Police out of District 19 in Carmi advises that the accident occurred on Illinois Route 1 a half-mile south of County Road 650 North in Wabash County, outside of the village of Cowling.
At about 4:25 p.m. yesterday (Tuesday, May 24), the driver of a 2004 Harley Davidson Motorcycle (an as-yet unnamed 51-year-old male), was traveling northbound on Route 1 in Wabash County and a blue 2012 Toyota Sienna, being driven by Marilyn M. Broster, 79, of Grayville, was traveling southbound, when for unknown reasons, the Toyota crossed the center line into the northbound lane and struck the Harley Davidson head-on.
The 51-year-old male was transported from the crash scene by Life Flight to an area hospital. Broster refused medical treatment at the crash scene. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
ISP District 19 was assisted at the crash scene by the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department, Bellmont and Keensburg Fire Departments and Wabash General Hospital Ambulance Service.
Ms. Broster has been charged with Improper Lane Usage.
The investigation is continuing.
