WHITE CO. Ill. - Earlier this morning (Sunday, March 27, 2016), White County authorities reported a tragedy that multiple agencies were working last night, and in which accident reconstructionists are still assisting.

White County Sheriff Doug Maier advised that his office was notified last night (Saturday, March 26) at about 7:54 p.m. that two juveniles were missing from the Maunie area (near the Wabash River). the two, Chrishaun Coaliron, 16, of South Land Street in Maunie, and Kaitlyn A. Gwaltny, 15, of Rudolph Street in Crossville, were last seen on a three-wheeler in the area between 141 and Maunie.

Deputies began searching the area in an effort to locate the teens; they were then joined by troopers from the Illinois State Police.

White County Dispatch received a call at approximately 11:53 p.m. that the three-wheeler and both subjects had been located. A White County Deputy arrived at the scene, on County Road 850 North at the intersection with County Road 1775 East, where he observed a three-wheeler down a steep ditch embankment. Both teens were deceased at the scene.

Maier said indications are that the three-wheeler missed a turn in the roadway and skidded into the ditch.

Coroner Chris Marsh was called to the scene and an Illinois State Accident Reconstruction Officer was also requested to assist in the investigation.

Maier said that his office is handling the accident.
