OMAHA—Gallatin County Sheriff Shannon Bradley has confirmed a shooting early this morning in the village of Omaha.
Deputy Ed Denison was called to a location in Omaha at about 5 a.m. this morning. There, he learned that two women living at the residence had had a quarrel of some sort, and one had gone to bed, the other sleeping on the couch.
The one in the bed, who is originally from Ohio, had a 9mm handgun that she pointed between her breasts and shot herself with.
She apparently wasn’t very accurate, and got up from the bed and went to the woman on the couch, telling her that she’d just shot herself. The other woman called emergency services and the response resulted in Denison’s arrival, as well as other emergency personnel, who loaded the injured woman in an ambulance and transported her to Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. From there, she was taken to a hospital in Evansville, but Sheriff Bradley didn’t have that info on hand and Denison is off shift right now.
We don’t have names or ages but are working the information. We do know that the injured woman had left a suicide note, so authorities don’t feel this was just for attention; they believe she was serious about it. But, Bradley said, as of right now, as far as his information has it, the woman is still alive; he said he’ll be calling to get her condition as soon as he learns which hospital Ferrell took her to.
When we learn more, we’ll get it to you. Keep checking back.
