Local dirtbag breaks into county ambulance as authorities launch renewed battle in drug war

HARDIN CO.— According to authorities, a well-known local dirtbag found himself in a bit of a pinch after they say he broke into a Hardin County Ambulance.

Information filed in the case alleges that on November 8, John E. Vailes, 35, committed two separate acts of Burglary when he first knowingly entered one of the ambulances while it was parked at the Hardin County Hospital and the second when he knowingly entered a storage unit belonging to the hospital.

V is also charged with two separate counts of Theft of Government Property, the first alleging that while in the ambulance he stole an I.V. warmer valued at less than $500 and the second while in the storage shed for allegedly stealing medical supplies identified as razors, batteries and Vaseline.

Vailes’ attorney Daniel K. Cockrum filed a motion for bond reduction in the case from $5,000 cash to $1,000 cash claiming V is not a flight risk, has strong ties to the community and that he will reside in Hardin County (as if that’s something desirable to taxpayers).

Vailes is rumored to be bedding down a local girl 32-year-old Amber Robinson-Bragdon who was busted several months ago after she was found to be a passenger in a minivan in which authorities found a glass pipe, “magic mushrooms” and a baggy of white powdery substance (later found to be bath salts) and a black gummy substance in a smaller plastic baggy (later found to be “black tar” opium) and another plastic bag that contained muriatic acid and a clear plastic bottle that contained what appeared to be methamphetamine precursors.

Official reports indicated that Ms. Robinson-Bragdon was taken into custody but there are no charges to be found from the incident.

The lack of charges could be that Eldorado chief of police Shannon Deuel (rumored to be an idiot with a badge) didn’t bother obtaining a consent to search the minivan or to get a warrant.

Ms. Robinson-Bragdon was convicted in 2011 on Misuse of a Credit Card and sentenced to 24 months probation and ordered to pay $3.713.42 in fines and fees of which she still owes $3,513.42.

As of press time Vailes was still behind bars.

ATV and cannabis

Another local with “strong ties to the community” has been housed in the county jail on drug charges.

According to officials, also on November 8, Ricky D. Smith, 52, has been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis after police stopped him for allegedly riding an ATV on Rte. 146 in Elizabethtown and found that he had on his possession more than 10 grams of cannabis.

Ricky was also charged with a single count of Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after police say they found a smoking pipe used to inhale cannabis and Driving While Revoked.

Ricky Smith is also represented by Daniel K. Cockrum, who filed a motion for bond reduction on his behalf as well.

Cockrum is asking that the $2,000 cash bond be reduced to $250 saying that if granted Ricky will be living at Rural Route 1, Box 282A, Elizabethtown during the duration of the court proceedings.

Meth and pills

A methamphetamine convict from Saline County has been busted in Hardin County on drug charges.

According to Hardin County officials Misty Lynn Rector, 32, of Eldorado and Betsy Robert-Sheridan, 39 and Gary Graham, age and address not available as of press time, have been charged with one count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine less than five grams and one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis more than 2.5 grams and as if that weren’t enough, Rector was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance identified as 31 tablets of clonazepam.

Authorities say the women committed the offenses on or about November 17 at approximately 4:30 p.m.

Ms. Rector was booked on $3,000 cash bond.

Ms. Robert-Sheridan was released from custody after a reduced $2,500 cash bond was posted on her behalf by Brenda Harrison of 2305 Ridge St., Eldorado; and the exact status of Mr. Graham was not available.

Battered and fried

Ms. Rector gained notoriety after being named as the favorite punching bag for Harrisburg’s Jason Curtis, brother of convicted killer (but not murderer, just involuntary manslaughter) John Curtis.

Ms. Rector appears to not just possess but seems to be taking a fair amount of the dope she carries around on her.

The theory stems from her bizarre relationship with the judicial system.

On one occasion Rector in her own words said: “Jason Curtis Beat me I had to go to Harrisburg E.R. I have 2 broken Bones in my Eye, a Broke nose, + a Broken Jaw. I Just got out of one surgery last week they metal plated my whole Left side of my face and put screws + Bolts in my eye socket. I still have to have surgery on my nose when this surgery heels. Jason wont stop threatening me I don’t trust him every time I go to my house on Green st that I Rent from his mom he wont stop coming over or neither will his mom they always start stuff. I would like for u to tell them to stay out until I get eviction notice to move out or I get out.”

One month after making that statement in an order of protection, which lead to Jason Curtis’ arrest, she penned another time.

“Urhonor,

“I Misty Lynn Rector would like to ask u to please drop all charges on Jason Allen Curtis for the Domestic Battery I never pressed charges and we are together + about to get married I need to ask if u would please drop the no contact and every port of the Domestic so we could please get back together. “Thank U

“Misty Rector

Serial doper

In Saline County alone Rector has been convicted of Forgery in 2003 while in 2008 prescription pill and cannabis charges were dismissed.

In 2009 she was charged with three counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (prescription medication), one count of Unlawful Possession of Cannabis and two counts of Child Restraint Violation with a child under eight years old.

She was just convicted in Saline County in September for Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Precursors, in return for two additional counts of being in possession of prescription pills were dismissed.

She was sentenced Sept. 25 to four years probation, which her Hardin County arrest violates, and ordered to pay $4,152 in fines and fees of which she has paid nothing.

Both women are expected back in court later this month.
