Former E’town principal being sued by hospital

HARDIN CO.—The former principal of Hardin County Schools in Elizabethtown has apparently fallen on hard times since resigning his position earlier this year.

According to a complaint filed in Hardin County circuit court on November 27, 2012, Franklin Collection Service Inc. advised the court that Stunson owed Lourdes Hospital (presumably the one in Paducah, Kentucky, as that one—as opposed to others in the country, as well as in other countries; but court documents don’t state the location) $1,627.81.

Stunson finished his tenure at the school amidst a couple of contentious issues arising over graduation and awarding grade point averages to students who apparently had some well-placed enemies. Suspensions and a lot of blame-casting ensued as a result. Stunson was also in charge when the infamous “Kill List” emerged out of two freshman girls’ dayplanners and created an uproar among parents of the kids named on the list.

Reports to Disclosure indicated that at school’s end this year, Stunson was observed on a bar stool at one of E-town’s watering holes more frequently than anywhere else.

It’s unclear from court documents what his ailment was that took him to Lourdes or how long ago it was, but E-town sources indicate that he had been ill for some time a couple of years back.

Court documents show that attorneys for the hospital, Blitt and Gaines in Wheeling, had already filed paperwork on a bank garnishment.

Stunson was served with the summons on the case November 27, and a next hearing was set for December 21.
