U.S.–Much is being made over the layoffs at American Coal in Galatia as well as other locations in the country, including Utah where the company has operations.
The big hoohaw has been laid directly at the feet of re-elected president Barry Soetero aka Barack Obama, as the layoffs came on the heels of the re-election Tuesday.
However, is the blame fair? Obama opposers are stating unequivocally that the reason so many businesses began either closing up immediately after the election or are in the process of closing or at least downsizing is due directly to Obamacare, and the fact that they, as a small business, won’t be able to afford the “premiums” (taxes) the law will be taking from their proceeds. Obama supporters on the other hand are claiming outright that this is “sour grapes” on the part of capitalists who are too greedy to let their money go to the greater good.
In light of all this, we opted to locate the actual letter that the man who owns the mines, Robert E. Murray, read to those to whom he was about to give pink slips, and let you decide for yourselves.
Dear Lord:
The American people have made their choice. They have decided that America must change its course, away from the principals of our Founders. And, away from the idea of individual freedom and individual responsibility. Away from capitalism, economic responsibility, and personal acceptance.
We are a Country in favor of redistribution, national weakness and reduced standard of living and lower and lower levels of personal freedom.
My regret, Lord, is that our young people, including those in my own family, never will know what America was like or might have been. They will pay the price in their reduced standard of living and, most especially, reduced freedom.
The takers outvoted the producers. In response to this, I have turned to my Bible and in II Peter, Chapter 1, verses 4-9 it says, “To faith we are to add goodness; to goodness, knowledge; to knowledge, self control; to self control, perseverance; to perseverance, godliness; to godliness, kindness; to brotherly kindness, love.”
Lord, please forgive me and anyone with me in Murray Energy Corp. for the decisions that we are now forced to make to preserve the very existence of any of the enterprises that you have helped us build. We ask for your guidance in this drastic time with the drastic decisions that will be made to have any hope of our survival as an American business enterprise.
Amen
Here at Disclosure, we know that it’s going to be a heavy burden to not only carry our own weight with Obamacare for ourselves when it finally hits, as well as “contributions” toward those who are not going to be able to pay their fair share because they’re not working. We can only imagine what it’s going to do with larger businesses whose profit margins reflect ours and are slim enough as it is.
However, coal mining is a much bigger venture. It is lifeblood to our modern existence as it provides the energy that sends us electricity. So comes the argument: Are Murray’s company, which is reportedly non-union, and Murray, who was a big donor to the Romney campaign, doing the grandstanding thing because his business is so vital to the American way of life? He signaled his intent months ago to reduce employment among the ranks if Obama was re-elected; was he playing fair and trying to keep up operations on a shoestring…or is he sacrificing jobs at the alter of an attempt to demean the president?
