Fight in Gallatin County involved fists, but not guns or knives

GALLATIN CO.—A fight that broke out this afternoon in Gallatin County was initially reported to have been conducted with either a gun or a knife, but neither proved to be the case: it was fisticuffs only.

Yeah. It was kinda like that. Only without all the grass to fall on.

And even then, one man was sent to an area hospital, and another sent to the White County jail in what was said to have amounted to someone’s alligator mouth overrunning his Tweetybird ass.

While we’re still working on the names and ages of the two involved, here’s what we know:

There’s a private fueling station at the corner of Illinois 1 and Illinois 13, right across the road from Patton’s convenience and gas station; truck drivers with cards applicable at the private station can stop and fuel up there. This afternoon at about 3:30, two guys, one local and one from Chicago who is said to be a Teamster, were fueling and talking, and the one from Chicago possessed of the alligator mouth got mouthy.

One thing lead to another and the situation escalated into fisticuffs, with the Teamster getting beaten badly enough to be transported by ambulance to one of the area hospitals (we’re working on that detail, too) and the other cared off to White County on behalf of Gallatin.

When we get his charges and other info, we’ll post it. But everyone can rest easy now that there were no shots fired and no knife-play this afternoon in Gallatin.
