UPDATE, 7:30 p.m.

Our sources are confirming that the sex of the body is being listed as “unknown” at this time. The body is also being listed as “badly decomposed.” We don’t have any further information beyond that. Below is the original post.

LAWRENCE CO.—We’re working on what appears to be a significant incident in Lawrence County, just off U.S. Highway 50 outside Sumner (west of Red Hill State Park)—a body found at a creek.

There is a whole contingent of police vehicles at a large concrete culvert located at that spot, and Deputy Byron Middlecoat advised that Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators are en route.
