SALINE CO.— A Legence bank employee has been charged with Theft after investigators say she took more than $10,000 from her cash drawer.

Illinois State Police Special Agent Stacy Kinter was contacted December 11 by Legence corporate office in Eldorado with a report that $41,000 in cash was missing from teller drawer #45 operated by Melissa R. Ellis, 39, of 14 West Lincoln St., Harrisburg.

The next day, Dec. 12, Kinter took trooper Jason Colp with her and interviewed Ellis.

Reports indicate that Ellis admitted that she had taken the cash over the period of several months from her drawer at the bank, located at 502 Commercial St., Harrisburg.

At approximately 2:05 p.m., Ellis was taken into custody and turned over to the staff at the county detention center.

State’s attorney Mike Henshaw recommended her cash bond be set at $40,000.

Judge Walden Morris set the cash bond at $25,000.
